5 Ways to Integrate Technology in to Your Internship

Ask your mentor teacher or media specialist what types of technology are available in the school and how you go about accessing them. For example, can you check out digital cameras or a projector from the media specialist? Second, read your school’s Acceptable Use Policy and find out if all the students in your class have permission to go online.

Teachers Using Technology in Classrooms

1.    If you are lucky enough to be in a classroom with a digital whiteboard, ask your mentor teacher how to use it!

2. Create a PowerPoint Presentation to teach an Art topic:

a. Art techniques

b. Different mediums and textures.

c. Different types of art, etc….

3. Use the internet to look up different artists and show their work to the students.

4. Create a CD for your students at the end of the year as their art portfolio.

Students Using Technology in Classrooms

1. Students can take virtual tours of art museums around the world.

2. Students can use art programs to draw pictures. For younger kids you can always use Kid Pix.

3. Have students do a presentation on an artist. The students can use the internet along with other resources to research information. They can also use a scanner or digital camera. Have them put their presentation into a PowerPoint presentation or another type of multimedia software to share with the class.

4. Have students demonstrate how to do a drawing technique by video taping themselves or putting it in some type of multimedia software to show the class.

5. Throughout the year have the students compile their work on the computer and then they can make a cd that has all of their art work on it. They can either scan their work or take pictures of the work that they do not do on the computer. Then they can put it in to a slide show presentation. They can also put their work on a web page.
