at Winthrop University

Best  Buddies is a non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing the lives of people with intellectual disabilities by providing opportunities for one-to-one friendships.  At Winthrop University, college students are matched with Rock Hill residents who have an intellectual disability. In the past, individuals with intellectual disabilities have not had the opportunity to have friends outside of their own, often isolated, environments.  By becoming a College Buddy, volunteers offer a Buddy the chance to explore life in a new way.

Founded in 1989 by Anthony K. Shriver, Best Buddies has grown from one chapter to a vibrant, international organization involving 50,000 participants.
