For many years Miss Ruby's School was the only educational facility available to African-American children living on Pawley's Island, SC.  Miss Ruby taught in this one-room school from 1937 - 1991.  In June of 1997 Miss Ruby was named one of the 51 "everyday heroes" in the United States.

     Holy Cross - Faith Memorial School or "Miss Ruby's School" 
The school is located just off HWY 17 in Pawley's Island, SC
The school closed in May of 2000.
