5 Ways to Integrate Technology in to Your Internship
Music (K-12)
Ask your mentor
teacher or media specialist what types of technology are available in the
school and how you go about accessing them.
For example, can you check out digital cameras or a projector from the
media specialist? Second, read your
school’s Acceptable Use Policy and find out if all the students in your class
have permission to go online.
Teachers Using
Technology in Classrooms
1. Create a graphic organizer for
a concept in Word or Inspiration. Ask your mentor teacher or the media
specialist if Inspiration is available in your school.
2. Use a WebQuest
that has already been developed to teach a topic.
3.
If you are lucky enough to be in a classroom with a digital whiteboard, ask
your mentor teacher how to use it!
4. Create a PowerPoint Presentation to teach a
topic.
5. Use the internet to look up interesting
facts about the subject you are teaching.
Students Using
Technology in Classrooms
- Using
music software, have students write a song on the computer using a midi
(this is a music keyboard that can plug into the computer) . Then have
the students take pictures or draw on the computer. Then incorporate the pictures and the
music together into a multimedia presentation.
- Have students
write their own songs on an electronic keyboard using different sounds and
record it.
- Divide
students into groups. Assign each
group a type of music like jazz, country, blues, etc. Then have the students do research on
the music using the internet as one of its recourses. The students can then put their
information into a Power Point presentation to show the entire class.
- Have
students develop a music web page for the class or the whole school. Each class can develop their own web
page putting in music that they have created and letting others know what
they do in music class.
- Have
students listen to music while they are on the computer. Have them “draw what they hear.” Have them use Kid Pix. Then the students can put a slide show
together using the music and the pictures that they drew.
