Field Experiences
Required for Education Majors
Experiences in the public schools are your opportunity
to view first-hand what you are learning in your courses. Many teachers in
the districts surrounding Winthrop’s campus welcome Winthrop students into
their classrooms.
When you visit a teacher’s classroom, you are a guest
of the school and represent Winthrop University. Please follow these
guidelines when you are in the public schools:
- Sign-in at the main office as a visitor.
- Dress appropriately by observing school dress codes.
- Plan your travel time accordingly and be ready to
observe in the classroom at the time you are scheduled to visit.
- Contact the teacher as soon as possible if you must
cancel a visit due to illness or emergency.
