Future plans will be determined by Consortium participants in light of
their needs and the
needs of education. These developments will also depend on availability
of time, expertise,
funding, technology and other resources, as well as the evolution of the
WWW and related
communication systems. Some possibilities are listed below:
Publications: As a complement to the on-line network, the Consortium may
publish
newsletters, monographs, and other materials. Newsletters could include:
Conferences, Symposia, and Workshops: Conferences, symposia, and workshops
ontopics of interest or critical need may be sponsored by the Consortium
or by individual and group member organizations.
Conversations, Visitations, and Collaborations: Conversations between programs,
facilitated by the Consortium, may lead to insights about teacher education
that can be shared by all. They may also develop into more concrete exchanges
like visitations and collaborations. Visitations, by individuals or teams
from one program to another, may simply serve to foster informal exchanges
on old problems or new possibilities. They may also entail more formal engagements
such as program evaluation. Collaborations may include: joint research projects,
co-developed curricula, or large-scale school reform efforts.
Funding. Although the Consortium itself cannot provide funding, it may help
programs with common interests meet and develop proposals. It may also provide
programs with an on-line directory of possible funding sources. Conversely,
the Consortium may become a resource for foundations and other funders,
providing them with an annotated catalog of teacher education programs,
listed according to areas of interest or expertise.
