Winthrop University Teaching Fellows Welcome Back It is the start of a brand new year here at Winthrop University. It seems that every year, the first things one acknowledges are the variety of changes around campus. New art pieces, construction projects, and greenery abound. Whether or not the direct changes are positive, there is a lot to say about a college campus in which growth and evolution are heralded and appreciated. Allowing for change and growth plays an important role among college students as their college career unavoidably shapes and molds ideas and beliefs, in turn, directly effecting the progression of their future. Within these terms, Winthrop's parallel efforts, along with its students, is endearing; thus, there is a positive quality inherent among all the changes, whether the immediate consequences conclude otherwise.
1) Stagnation is neither acceptable, nor to be invited. Become a consistently active learner. 2) Seek out positive steps toward evolving. While consequences are not always foreseeable, constructive and helpful efforts to evoke personal growth may lead to positive results. Conversely, do not let fears and hesitancies hinder your development. Allowing growth is important as students, but also as we embark on the task of becoming teacher leaders within the community.
