Collaborations

Activities
The TLC Project collaborates with many groups to better integrate technology into the teacher education curriculum.

Professional Development Schools
P-12 teachers from the Winthrop University Professional Development Schools attend Summer Technology Camp and work to infuse technology into teacher education students' final internships.
One PDS, Lewisville Elementary School, is the Technology PDS.  Here, TLC Project staff teach a class called Integrating Technology into the K-5 Classroom. The course is offered for three hours of recertification credit and the work is a combination of face-to-face classroom meetings and online independent study. In-service teachers gain hands-on experience using word processors, spreadsheets, Internet research, presentation software, graphic organizer software, digital scanners and cameras in an educational setting.  Also at Lewisville, internship supervisors and mentor teachers work closely with interns to integrate technology into the final internship.

Winthrop Olde English Consortium
Teachers from districts throughout the Winthrop Olde English participate in TLC activities.  Project staff work with teachers in Fort Mill School District Four to develop technology infused lessons and to design a scope and sequence of technology integration in grades K-8.  The lessons and scope and sequence are shared with pre-service teachers as they begin to develop their own technology infused lessons.

Corps of Mentor Teachers
Teachers from The Corps of Mentor Teachers, funded by the Partners for the Enhancement of Clinical Experiences  project, a USDE Title II Teacher Quality Partners Grant, also attend Summer Technology Camp and  work to infuse technology into teacher education students' final internships.  TLC Project staff also assist the Corps in developing Inquiry Project presentations for the Corps of Mentor course.

Governor's School
TLC Project staff provide Technology and Literacy workshops for participants in the Governor's School for Excellence in Teaching.

SUNRAY
Winthrop is one of the nine cohort colleges and universities participating in the
SUNRAY catalyst grant.

Winthrop teacher education faculty participating in the TLC Project have attended SUNRAY professional development events called SUNRAY Academies and SUNRAY Institutes.  Participation in the SUNRAY Project is documented in our SUNRAY eyearbook.

For additional information, see the TLC Participation in SUNRAY page.
