Lesson Details

Objectives:  The students will answer review questions about Spanish
greetings, colors, numbers, days of the week, professions and Hispanic culture.
Setting: 1 computer classroom – 40 minute Related Arts class

Procedures:     Time:

Before students enter, set up computer and projector at the front of the room and open PowerPoint presentation WWTBAM-1.

As students enter, distribute individual dry erase boards, markers and erasers.

Open slide show to first slide and greet students as contestants on Who Wants To Be A Spanish Expert.  Explain that it is very similar to WWTBAM, but they will all be in the “hot seat” at the same time and their answers will be written on the dry erase boards.

Go to next slide and read aloud the first question and the 4 possible answers.  Give students time to write their answers and then have students show their boards by asking for their final answers.

Click the answer that the majority of the class provided, if it is correct ask a volunteer to explain why and go to the next question.  If incorrect, go back to the question, give the correct answer and explain.  Continue until the class reaches $1 Million.

Open WWTBAM-2 and go to the first slide.  For this round, allow individual students to go to the computer to be “Regis” by reading the question and controlling the slide show.

If there is remaining time, continue with next PowerPoint presentation.

Collect dry erase boards and markers as students leave.

This activity can be adapted for students who have finished class work early or need extra review by allowing individual/small groups to work at the computer by themselves as time permits.

Technology Specific Activity/Project Description:

The slide show is a PowerPoint presentation consisting of 15 review questions of increasing difficulty with the slides designed to look like the popular game show Who Wants To Be A Millionaire

Because of limited time and only one computer in a related arts class, the slide shows must be prepared by the teacher; however students can write and submit their own questions to be included.

Assessment:  Student performance is assessed visually by their responses on the dry erase boards.
