| Summary of Lesson: |
While
studying the Louisiana Purchase in Social
Studies, the 8th grade French classes will
be exploring the history and activities of Mardi Gras. This lesson will give
an overview of the event in preparation for a math lesson on planning a trip
to New Orleans, LA with their French III class in 2006. |

Students will appreciate the history of Mardi Gras.
Students will create a PowerPoint presentation
on Mardi Gras.
Students will present a PowerPoint
presentation on Mardi Gras. |

| Procedures: |
Have students create a PowerPoint
presentation on Mardi Gras in groups of 3 or 4. Each student will be responsible
for producing 3 slides. |

The slides must

and pictures should reflect the topic. |

the class ( and possibly parents) in order to gain an understanding of Mardi
Gras prior to planning a trip to New Orleans for the event. |
